1. PRODUCT
Concrete Roofing Products incorporating both concrete tiles and concrete ridges are manufactured to a consistently high quality in accordance with the relevant product specifications.

2. PHYSICAL AND CHEMICAL CHARACTERISTICS
Concrete Roofing Products are composed of:

a) A cementitious material (This may be cement or a mixture of cement with pulverised fuel, ash or ground granulated blast-furnace slag).
b) Coarse and fine aggregates
c) Water
d) Admixtures (These may be added to improve the properties of the fresh and hardened concrete. To colour the product to the customer’s requirements, pigments may be added).

A combination of the above materials is extruded to fine tolerances and undergoes a curing process.

MAIN HAZARDS
a) Abrasive damage to hands may be caused by handling of concrete roofing products.
b) Dermatitis or drying of unprotected skin may result from excessive handling.
c) Surface treatment and cutting of concrete roofing products can create dust, which may contain quartz. If this respirable dust is inhaled, it can constitute a long-term health hazard.
d) When cutting, there is a risk of impact damage as a result of projected particles at high risk.

PRECAUTIONS
Inhalation of concrete dust should be avoided and eyes should be protected during cutting and similar surface treatment.

PROTECTIVE CLOTHING
Protective clothing should be worn whilst handling.
Goggles and respiratory protective equipment should be worn during the surface treatment and cutting of hardened concrete where dust is generated.

TRANSPORTATION AND WASTE DISPOSAL
The carriage of concrete roofing products is not subject to Hazardous Substances Conveyance Regulations and vehicle labelling is not required.
Concrete Roofing Products are inert, and disposal of should be in accordance with local legal requirements.

STORAGE
For storage, stacking and general handling, particular care should be taken, having regard in particular to the weight of the product and the stability of the packs.
